Berlie Hale, Sr.

Bernice - Berlie Lee Hale, Sr., age 87, died on Monday May 25, 2009 at Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove, Oklahoma. The son of Phelan G. Hale and Georgia E. (Craiger) Hale was born on July 29, 1921 in Alpena Pass, Arkansas. Berlie proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps. He married Mildred Hoffman on December 26, 1942 in Amarillo, Texas. Bernie worked as a supervisor for Boeing Aircraft. Berlie and Mildred moved from Wichita, Kansas to the Grand Lake area in 1984. He was a member of the Independent Green Country Christian Church and was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Berlie enjoyed fishing for catfish and crappie. Berlie was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Darrell Hale and George Hale. He is survived by his wife Mildred V. Hale of the home, three sons; Berlie L. Hale, Jr. and his wife Terry of Bernice, Gary D. Hale of Henderson, Nevada and Allen G. Hale of Wichita, Kansas, one daughter Sharon Kay Hale of Wichita, Kansas and one brother John Hale of Vinita, Oklahoma, fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday June 1, 2009 at the Ballard Cemetery in Bernice, Oklahoma. Serving at pallbearers will be Charlie Bush, Michael Tims, Bill Raven, Berlie Hale, Jr., Gary Hale, and Allen Hale. Honorary pallbearer will be John Hale.
