Grove, Oklahoma - Dee Ann Pierce was born March 28, 1950 in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Bill and Kathryn Wingo. She passed away suddenly October 29, 2008 at her home near Grove, Oklahoma, at the age of 58. Dee graduated from Granite (Oklahoma) High School in 1968 and attended college at Central State University (now UCO) in Edmond, Oklahoma. She later graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southwestern Oklahoma State College at Sayre, Oklahoma with an Associate in Science, General Studies. She married Garland Pierce, October 11, 1985 at Prairie View Baptist Church, near Elk City. She worked for several firms during her life, including Braums, the Elk City Daily News, Elk City State Bank, Wal-Mart, and most recently the Grove Sun, where she had spent the last 12 years. Dee was a breast cancer survivor. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, cooking and gardening. Dee was baptized and joined the First Baptist Church in Granite at a young age. She attended the Seneca Cayuga Mission near Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Garland, of the home near Grove, her son, Ricky Snyder of Burleson, Texas, grandchildren Tyler Snyder and Caitlyn Snyder of Elk City, Oklahoma; her sisters and brothers-in-law: Kay and Cecil Morgan of Granite, OK, Gay and Eddie Bagby of Elk City, and Jan and Dave Locklear of Oklahoma City; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Dee is also survived by her mother-and father-in-law, Peggy and Lonnie Woodruff, of Sayre, Oklahoma. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City, Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.
