Donald Reed

Afton - Donald Eugene Reed, age 73, died on Tuesday April 7, 2009 at his residence in Afton, Oklahoma. The son of Opal Marie (Legg) and Kenneth Stratton, Don was born on May 28, 1935 in Independence Missouri. Don worked as a Truck Driver for Butler Transport, Kansas City Kansas. He moved to the Grand Lake area in 1998 and was member of the Lake Center Baptist Church on Monkey Island, Oklahoma. Don was a race car driver, he enjoyed fixing old cars and wrestling with his grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his mother Opal Stratton, his step-father Kenneth Stratton and one brother Bill Reed. Don is survived by his wife Virginia Reed of the home, two sons Donald Reed, Jr. and his wife Maria of Afton, Oklahoma and Kenneth Reed of Grove, Oklahoma, four step-sons Fred Holloran and his wife Lori, Edward Johnson, Jr. and his wife Kim, William Johnson all of Afton, Oklahoma and Michael Robinett and his wife Windy of Butler, Missouri, twenty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the Rolston Cemetery on Monkey Island, Oklahoma with Reverend Kim Hays officiating.
