Harold Thorne

Harold I. Thorne, 94, of Grove, Oklahoma, died Saturday, September 22, 2007 at The Grove Nursing Center. He was born September 29, 1912 in Ottumwa, Iowa to David and Sara Thorne. Harold spent most of his life in Ottumwa and Keokuk, Iowa and the last 24 years In Grove, Oklahoma. He was a veteran of WWII and served on the aircraft carrier Steamer Bay. He was a Mason for 54+ years and an active member of the Eastern Star. Harold was an elder and charter member of the Grace Presbyterian Church of Grove, Oklahoma. He enjoyed fishing, especially in Canada. He is survived by his daughter Patricia A. Thompson and grandson Michael Thompson and his wife Jill; two great-grand children Emma and Walker Thompson of Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Mary Fern Thorne and one son Harold Eugene Thorne. Graveside services will be held in Ottumwa, Iowa, on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shaul Cemetery. Ellis Family Funeral Home of Grove, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements.
