James Lawrence

James "Jim" Lawrence, 67 year old, Grove, Oklahoma area resident passed away Monday, September 26, 2011, following an extended illness. Jim was born on December 8, 1943 in Mena, Arkansas to Herbert and Hilda (Cain) Lawrence. He moved to the Grove are in 1972 and opened a machine shop, as well as a second shop in Galena, Kansas. Jim always enjoyed working, but did enjoy riding his motorcycle and for the last couple of years had been restoring a 1966 El Camino. Jim is survived by his wife Terry of the home, sons, Nathan Lawrence and wife Dee, of Joplin, Missouri, and David Dunn and wife Leslie, of Russelville, Arkansas, brother, Herb Lawrence of Grove, Oklahoma, sister, Wilena Brooks, of Grove, Oklahoma, three grandchildren, Cole James Lawrence, Shanae Brook Lawrence and Samantha Dunn. Jim is also survived by cousins, Mickey Lawrence of Abilene, Texas, and Brian Lawrence of Mena, Arkansas, aunt, Joyce Lawrence of Mena, Arkansas, uncle, Jessie Lawrence and wife, Opehila of Mena, Arkansas, and several close friends that he thought of as family, David Baird and his wife Terry, Dave Thorton and Ronnie "Ronzo" Rowand. Funeral Services for Jim will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday October 1, 2011 at the Newsong Church, south of Grove, Oklahoma. A reception will be held the same evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m at the Grove, Oklahoma Moose Lodge. A visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday September 30, 2011 at the Ellis Family Funeral Home.
