James Storer

James "Jim" Carter Storer 78 years young passed away on October 10, 2013 at Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jim just celebrated his birthday on September 29th, he was born in 1935 in Studley, Kansas. Jim was the son of Charles Edward Storer, Sr. and Harriett Pharaba (Troutner) Storer. Jim graduated from high school in De Soto, Kansas. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1957-1961. Jim was united in marriage to the love of his life, Janice Skinner on October 26, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jim worked for the Hercules Powder Company from 1962 - 1964. They moved several times over the years, Jim and Janice lived in Kansas City, Lees Summit, and Lone Jack, Missouri. Jim retired from Western Electric and AT&T in 1991. They moved to Grove, Oklahoma and Jim spent his retirement just being with Janice, working part time at the funeral home in Grove and playing pool at the Senior Citizens Center. Jim and Janice would have celebrated their 52 wedding anniversary this month. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Harriett Storer, brother Charles Storer Jr., Jim is survived by his wife, Janice Storer, his daughter Deena Bailey and husband Patrick; son Doug Storer; and four grandchildren, and his brother Richard Storer. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Ellis Family Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma. Jim will be laid to rest, 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2013 in De Soto Silent City Cemetery in De Soto, Kansas. Friends and family may leave online condolences by viewing his obituary at www.ellisfuneralhome.com. Everyone knew Jim didn't like "funeral flowers" therefore memorial donations can be made in Jim's name to the Grove Senior Citizens Center. Services have been entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.
