John Griffith

John David Griffith, resident of Grove, OK, past peacefully with cancer on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the age of 45. "Big John" was born on November 12, 1966 to Terry John Griffith and Donna Marie (Buckett) Griffith. John grew up in Grove where he graduated from Grove High School in 1985. He was a star wrestler, and loved playing football and baseball. He married Tammy Yates on February 14, 1989 in Miami, OK. Tammy and John moved to the Arkansas City/ Winfield, KS area where John worked for Rubbermaid for 5 years and enjoyed playing softball until moving back to Grove. John has worked for the past 18 years as a Supervisor for ROCMND Area Youth Services. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and Grove sports but most of all he loved to be with his family and grandkids and friends. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his Grandfather Percy David Buckett; Grandparents John E. Griffith and Nellie M. Griffith, Uncle Leroy Buckett and Uncle Bill Goodwin, Cousin Gerri Drake, and great aunt Lorene Jackson. Survivors include his wife Tammy of the home; son TJ Griffith of Grove, OK; daughter Alisha Trevett and her husband Chris and their children Noah and Calvin all of Grove, OK; mother Donna Griffith of Grove, OK; father Terry John Griffith and Belinda of Seminole, OK; grandmother Alice Buckett of Dewey, OK; brother Brent Griffith of Grove, OK; brother-in-law George Yates and his wife Zenobia and their children Odessa, Rosalynn, and Landree all of Grove, OK; brother-in-law Sonny Guymon and his children Matthew and Josh and his fiancé Laura all of Haysville, KS; brother-in-law Allen Yates of Grove, OK; sister-in-law Leann Turner and her husband Mike and their kids Jay and Tiffany all of Mulvane, KS; , Maternal Aunts; Glenda Stark and husband Wes of Oklahoma City, JoAnn Blevings and her husband J.J. of Jay, Debra Bastings and her husband Dave of Dewey, Oklahoma, Paternal Aunts; Paula Goodwin and Anna Marie Porter of Welch, Oklahoma and Uncle Charley Griffith and his wife Melissa of Vinita, Oklahoma. and numerous other relatives and friends. The memorial service will be held at 11AM, Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Grove High School Gymnasium in Grove, OK with Rev. Gary Bishop, officiating and Rev. John Pinkerton, assisting. A memorial fund has been set up to help off set expenses at Grand Savings Bank in Grove. A gathering will be held after the services at the Grove Rotary Park next to the Sports Complex.
