Reuben T. Dixon, Sr., passed away in Grove, OK, on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the age of 98. Reuben was born November 20, 1913 in Springfield, MO to Oren T. Dixon and Minnie (Fowler) Dixon. As a teenager, Reuben moved to Miami with his family and went to work for his parents in the Dixon's Flower and Printing Shop. He worked for his father and mother for about 5 years until he married Irene King in1932. Mr. Dixon delivered papers for the Tulsa World until he became a police officer for the Miami Police Department. Reuben was the first motorcycle patrolman in Miami. Eventually Reuben transferred from the police department to the fire department where he climbed the ranks to fire chief. After over 30 years with the department, Reuben went back to his family business where he was over the sales of the company. After he sold the business, Reuben worked part time for the company. In 1988 Irene passed away and in 1994 Reuben married his second wife Aleta Dixon. After a battle with cancer Aleta passed away and Reuben married Edna M. Dixon in 1995 in Las Vegas, NV. At the time of Rubens death, he was the oldest member of the Miami Elks Lodge, having been a member for over 60 years. He was preceded in death by both his parents, two brothers: Jack and Max Dixon, and one sister Louise Seamster, and his wife Edna Dixon. He is survived by his son R.T. Dixon, Jr. of McAllen, TX, son Dr. Kim King and his wife Missey and their son Cole of Oklahoma City, OK; two grandchildren: Tracey Nowicki of New Braunfels, TX and Matthew Dixon of North Las Vegas, NV; three great grandchildren: Hannah Nowicki, David Nowicki, and Jack Dixon along with a number of friends. The graveside service will be held at the Walker Cemetery in Welch, OK on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 2PM with Tracey Nowicki and Cyndi McArtor, presiding. Friends are welcome to come by and view Mr. Dixon from 8AM to 5PM on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Ellis Funeral Home in Grove, OK.
