Rex Mitchell, Sr.

Rex Roy Mitchell, Sr., age 72, died at his residence in Wyandotte, Oklahoma on Monday March 1, 2010. The son of Ruic O. and Dovie L. Mitchell, Rex was born on March 12, 1937 in Joplin, Missouri. Rex enjoyed fishing, woodcarving, and gardening, he also was an avid boxing fan. He worked in the construction field as a roofing contractor. Rex was united in marriage to Loretta Mitchell in Miami, Oklahoma on April 8, 1956. Rex was preceded in death by one son Rex Roy Mitchell, Jr., two sisters Freda Jenkins and Frankie Cooper, four brothers Edsel Mitchell, Fred Mitchell, Bert Mitchell, O.F. Mitchell and a foster brother James Hale. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Mitchell, his son Dennis R. Mitchell, six grandchildren, Zachariah Mitchell, Zavier R. Mitchell, Rex R. Mitchell III, Cheyanne Miechell, Dovie Mitchell and Misty Dawn Mitchell, one brother Jim Mitchell, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services are to be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday March 5, 2010 at the Lone Elm Pentecostal Church in Joplin, Missouri with Reverend J.C. Walker officiating.
