Roy Eugene Nugen, passed away at the Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO, on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the age of 69. Roy was born September 22, 1943 in Wichita, KS, the son of the late George Dean Nugen and Mary Miller. Throughout Roy's childhood years, he moved to various places until joining the United States Navy at the age of 17. Roy served during the Vietnam Era. After he was honorably discharged, Roy worked various jobs until owning his own business, manufacturing recreational vehicles in Wellington, KS. Roy married Charlene Foster on August 2, 1964 in Newkirk, OK. In 1979 they moved to Grove where he worked for the Kansas City Union as a Mill Wright until retiring in 1998. Roy enjoyed working, classic cars, watching T.V. and volunteering for the D.A.V. During his years with the D.A.V he served as Commander and Coordinator from 2002 to 2009. Roy also had 11,950 volunteer hours with the D.A.V. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Charlene Nugen; one son Kevin Nugen; grandchildren: Trevor Nugen, Tailor Nugen, and Taryn Nugen; one great grandchild Abigail Nugen; one sister Rozella Farris; two brothers: Bud Nugen and Edward Miller; brother-in-laws: Steve Foster, David Foster and William Foster; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The memorial service will be held at the Cayuga Mission Church on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 2PM with Pastor William "Bill" Foster, presiding. The burial of the cremated remains will follow at the Cayuga Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, Grove, OK.
