Wilbur A. Bryson, age 88, died at his residence in Grove, Oklahoma on Thursday, September 16, 2010. Wilbur was born in Edna, Kansas on March 23, 1922, and was the son of Andrew Jackson and Clara L. (Fowler) Bryson. Wilbur attended and graduated from Labette Community High School in Altamont, Kansas. Wilbur proudly served in the Navy; he was an Operations Pilot in the Pacific during World War II. He then married Shirley Lee Ratclift, who preceded him in death in 2005. Wilbur spent most of his life on the farm raising cattle in Chetopa, Kansas. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, and was on the board of the electric co-op in Labette County. After retirement, Wilbur loved to travel, spending his winters in Arizona and the summers in Grove, Oklahoma. He was united in marriage to Helen Cole in October of 2008. Wilbur is survived by his wife Helen Bryson on the home, his children Marcia Price of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Gaylin Wayne Bryson of Palmer, Kansas, Beverly Ann Ingram of Baldwin City, Kansas and Wilbur A. Bryson, Jr. of Grove, Oklahoma. Wilbur was blessed with five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters. Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Shirley, a granddaughter Melissa Tullis, two sisters Loraine and Jesse, and three brothers Wayne, Ronald, and Clayton. A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Ellis Family Funeral Home Chapel in Grove. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., at the Edna Elm Grove Cemetery in Edna, Kansas.
