William Smith

GROVE: William A. "Bill" Smith, age 62, passed away Friday July 18, 2008 at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri. Bill was born October 20, 1945 to William Arthur Smith, Sr. and Bernita (Brunt) Smith in Everett, Washington. Bill was united in marriage to Reatha L. Parks on June 1, 1968 at the Sunset Hills Christian Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Bill acquired a Masters degree, and worked in the public school system as an administrator. Bill and Retha moved from Dodge City, Kansas to Grove, Oklahoma in 2007. Bill was a member of the Emporia State University Alumni Association, was an avid Kansas City Royals baseball fan, and collected baseball cards. Survivors include his wife Reatha L. Smith of the home, two sons; Brett J. Smith and his wife Patricia of Wichita, Kansas and Curtis J. Smith of St. Joseph, Missouri, two grandsons; Alec Smith and Jacob Smith, and one sister Barbara J. McDaniel of Overland Park, Kansas. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Lee's Resort in Grove, Oklahoma with Reverend John Redfearn officiating. Memorials are being directed to the March of Dimes Association, 7146 S. Braden Ave., Suite 700, Tulsa, OK 74136.
