Ruth Lucille “Lucy” Carter, 87 year old resident of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on March 29, 2020 at the Grove Nursing Center.
Lucy was born on August 14, 1932 in Sikeston, Missouri. She was the daughter of Robert Floyd Gwaltney and Mary Ruby (Campbell) Breiler. A small sample of the things that Lucy enjoyed include reading, traveling (as long as it didn’t’ require a plane), visiting her family back in her home town and trips to Las Vegas where she was pretty good at the slots. She was an excellent cook and could whip up the best biscuits and gravy. Lucy had a green thumb when it came to her house plants and her garden. Lucy also managed the Honey Creek Motel for several years. She enjoyed life and loved to laugh especially when wit her five boys! She was a wise and loving mother, adored by her sons.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dale, and two children; Terry Moore and Jeffery Carter. She is survived by her three children; Don Davidson and wife Sherri of San Diego, CA, Bob Davidson of Daytona Beach, FL and Michael Carter of Jay, OK, three siblings; Ace, Jimmy and Sue. Lucy was blessed with six grandchildren; Connie, Becky, Shoshanna, Silas, Kevin and heather and two great grandchildren; Madison and Mason.
Lucy will be missed by all those she embraced on her life’s jouneys, especially her friends and family.
Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Family Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.
